Resurrection, Ascension, Descent, and Reincarnation

Highfalutin words but seldom meditated upon as a whole

After physical death, the spirit of the deceased body resurrects and continues to live on. It stays for a while in the higher dimension and decides to descend (as in descent of the Holy Spirit), and reincarnates on Earth to continue what it is supposed to do.

This is the cycle of life: resurrection, ascension, descent, and reincarnation. Theists believe in the first three but are divided in their views when it comes to reincarnation.

Christianity used to believe in reincarnation but it was taken out from the Christian scripture in around 325 A.D. Nevertheless, if Jesus comes again, as Christians expect, this would be another momentous case of reincarnation.

Other Christian sects such as the Bogomils and the Cathars profess reincarnation. And so with gnostic beliefs, like the Manicheans. The teachings of Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Kabbalah, and Buddhism (“wheel of rebirth”) believe in reincarnation.

Recent religious movements like Theosophical Society, Eckankar, Scientology, Meher Baba, Sai Baba, Brahmakumaris, and Osho believe in reincarnation.

Islam does not believe in reincarnation. The Qur'an rejects this concept, though it preaches the existence of a soul. Its principal belief is that there is only one birth on this earth. The Doomsday comes after death and the soul will be judged once and for all whether it goes to hell or be unified with God.

I find reincarnation more humane than sending an individual who commits a mortal sin immediately to the eternal furnace, without any redemption. I do not wish to disturb the peace and comforts of other’s beliefs, but a challenge can always be posed. One can always take or leave it!

BUT WHAT IF reincarnation is true?

I took the paths of René Descartes’ academic doubt and Blaise Pascal’s wager argument. I did my own research and based on this knowledge coupled with my experience, it paid off. I am convinced I am a reincarnated being.

I know some of my former lifetimes. I know who I was at various times and spaces. But I am still the same, ENERGY, call it Self, an embodied spirit or soul, Consciousness, Force, Light, God Source as you wish, exhibiting different vibrations and forms in every reincarnation.

Descent of the Holy Spirit

After Jesus ascended into heaven, the apostles and disciples were waiting for the descent of the Holy Spirit in their room for some days.

After the Pentecost, it is said that the apostles and disciples became fearless, speaking in tongues, healing the sick, resurrecting the dead, making the lame walk, and many others.

But I am interested in knowing four things:

(1) FIRST. When they were waiting in their Clausura, what must have they been doing to prepare themselves for the coming of the Holy Spirit?

- I'm just curious.

- Were they just relaxing and doing nothing? Were they discussing with each other? If so, about what? Or were they perhaps praying all the time?

- Or did they spend their time in silence and solitude? What must have they been thinking?

(2) SECOND. What happened when the Holy Spirit finally descended upon them? How did this happen? Was it a dove or lightning that appeared before them? What did it say to them? How long did it happen? 5 seconds, minutes, hours?

- What were their experiences when the Holy Spirit was with them? What changes did they notice with respect to their body, mind, and spirit?

- Were they convulsing or contorting their bodies? Spitting out fumes? Talking invectives?, as played in the movie "The Exorcist?"

- What was the personal experience of John, Thomas, Peter, and the rest? How about the ladies who were also there, maybe in another room or location?

- There are no accounts whatsoever in the Bible about what happened to each of the apostles when the Holy Spirit descended upon them.

(3) THIRD. What happened immediately after they received the wisdom and fire of the Holy Spirit?

- Did they immediately get out of their Clausura and bring the good news to the people?

- Or were they planning what to do after they received the fire of the Holy Spirit? Did they discuss where to spread the good news?

(4) FOURTH. Note that the Holy Bible was only assembled in the year 325 A.D., or thereabout, during the Council of Nicea. The council members relied only on the individual letters written by Peter, Thomas, Mark, Matthew, John, Mary Magdalene, and Judas Iscariot, many of which have not been included in the New Testament.

Yet, we are told that today's bible collection was inspired by the Holy Spirit. Did the Holy Spirit also descend upon the members of the Council and stay with them until everything was completed?

Or did the Holy Spirit dictate, or even write, the contents of the present bible word for word, just as Yahweh did to the Ten Commandments?

Yet, why are there so many versions of the Bible existing today? King James, Geneva, Septuagint, English Standard, New International Version, etc., and even translated in many languages.

I am just curious and my curiosity led me to imagine and fill up the gaps and missing links.

Resurrection and Reincarnation

If asked whether they believe in reincarnation, Catholics would say "I believe in resurrection", implying categorically that they don't believe in reincarnation.

As a Catholic, I too believe in resurrection. And I remain a Catholic even if I believe in reincarnation because Jesus will reincarnate and reembody in human form once more when He comes again.

And this could also happen to us. Who knows, our present life is a reincarnation and re-embodiment of some of our previous lives.

Personally, I believe I was a mineral, bacteria, insect, plant, tree, and animal in my previous lives before I took my present human form. All their marks and footprints are already in my blood, genes, and DNA continuing to influence my ways of thinking, feeling, and behavior.

Now that we celebrate the Resurrection and Ascension of our Lord Jesus, I’m looking forward to His reincarnation.
