The God of Science

Scientists have always been forced to deal with the issue of God's existence who,
religious believers say, is the Creator of the Cosmos and everything
in it. What is science's idea of God's existence and role in
the Cosmos? Do scienticsts believe in God at all?
If so, is their belief coincides with the God of
religion? This series presents the views
of the world's leading scientists.

Do physicists, cosmologists, and astronomers believe in a God? If so, what kind
of God do they believe in? What is God's role and function in the
universe? Does it continue to intervene in our lives?

How do Scientists View the Existence of God?

May 20, 2017

Does God exist? What are the views of quantum physis and Its Founders?

Now, let's get down to some more fundamental brass tacks and consider the issue of God. Using the approach of science and the language of mathematics, QP has arrived at an Ultimate Reality, labeled as the Primal Force or Energy (E), the Uncreated, Unmoved, Unborn, Unmanifested, Pure and Undiluted by any material (m) elements. The giants of QP view this Primal Energy as an Entity referring to It as the Absolute Consciousness, Self, Soul, Spirit, though careful of using the term "God."

Meanwhile, we find in Religion the concept of “God,” described by Christian philosophers and theologians as the Uncaused, the Prime Mover, and Creator of everything that exists. This view is reinforced by their strong and unquestioned adherence to faith and revelation.

There are some parallelisms and similarities in the descriptions of the two worldviews and one can even infer that the two disciplines could most probably, and with high degree of certainty, be referring to the same element or entity, albeit expressed in different terms or labels.

If this is so, this makes quantum physicists believers or theists. The label, mostly thrown by religious peoples, that scientists are atheists is thus in error. For if one really subscribes to the methods of science and the rigor of its mathematics, quantum physicists, on the personal level, cannot but be also theists or believers of a “God."

While there may still lurk a leap of consciousness or intuition on the part of Science to accept the existence of a “God,” as Einstein maintained, the idea has already passed through rigorous tests in the laboratory. The seal could be finally stamped when the findings of the Higgs boson, discovered in 2012, and believed to be the Ultimate Reality or the God Particle will be finally released.

Whatever the findings are, I believe that the description of the Higgs boson partakes that of the E that quantum scientists hypothesized.

The God Particle

The Higgs Boson is touted as the God Particle because it is considered as the ultimate particle. But the LHC continues to produce new particles almost without end. Here's how the LHC does it.
