What Can Be Done

We Are Now Making a New Chapter in Our History

Paul J Dejillas, Ph.D. - July 11, 2022

There could be great backlashes and there could be great benefits. It can be both. Daily, it will be a continuing process of cost-benefit analysis for both the ruler and the ruled. Daily, a judgment will be rendered.

After 6 years, history will render its judgment and many historians will give their piece of mind. But who will have the last say?

Yes, who indeed will have the last say? This doesn’t matter anymore. Whoever it will be, will not mark any change at all in our history.

It will not make any difference at all whether it is the vanquished or the victors that will write our history. For our history has always been the same repeated over and over again.

It is always up-and-down, a merry-go-round ride, or a thesis-antithesis kind of life. If the vanquished wins, they become the new rulers. There will always be two sides.

The side of the winners and the side of the losers, but never a win-win situation. The proverbial synthesis will always remain a utopia, well, at least, during my earthly lifetime.

In any case, the people will always be the losers who will meekly bear the brunt of poverty, hunger, and injustices. Even democracy is not working on our favor.

What could be our role as an individual citizen?

I’m not concerned with history. It is not my story. It is their story. It doesn't concern me. And they are not interested in my story at all.

But I am more interested in my own story. Whether it's good or bad, exciting or boring, happy or sad, hateful or blissful, it doesn't matter because it concerns me personally. It is my story.

My story continually evolves as I tread my life’s path. I can make it good or bad, depending on my choice. I no longer mind what society will think of me. I've long been raised and brought up by their world that only deluded and deceived me into thinking that theirs is the only world.

I have grown the wings of an eagle to go beyond their world and the bird's eye to have a panoramic view of what's going on below. I'm free to fly anywhere and to go with the flow wherever the cosmic winds of change may lead me to.

I have in my DNA the lion's fearless courage and voice to roar, roar, and roar incessantly in order to confront the harsh realities in life.

Ultimately, it's only me, an individual citizen, who can change my world in my favor. I have no intentions of changing the entire world.

I'm just trying to be a pragmatist. If I am still in the state of misery and chaos, then, it’s simply because of me alone, not because of others. I have not yet learned enough in life.

Now is the time to face reality and what kind of reality is facing us today?

Science, Politics, or Religion: Which Institution Takes Precedence?

Paul J. Dejillas, Ph.D. – May 4, 2021

At these trying times, science plays a crucial role in providing and developing medications that can prevent and cure the deadly coronavirus.

Medical doctors ought to be heard, appreciated, and praised for the excellent work they are doing for us. But here's the problem.

Doctors are not receiving the same level of credibility they deserve to receive from the other sectors of society, especially from the public sector.

This is understandable because doctors also carry with them biases in their opinions as to what the correct medications ought to be given to their patients.

But this is also true in the case of our political leaders. They differ in their views in matters relating to health, employment, poverty, justice, human rights, border security, and the Constitution, among others. They quarrel among themselves sans any qualms of decency and respect.

Meanwhile, religion, while assisting science and governments in engaging projects to alleviate the people's suffering from today's pandemics, are led by leaders and followers that are highly politicized and greatly beholden to the rich.

There you are. We are facing a national crisis of global proportion. The challenge facing us as a people and nation is how to find the right mix of ingredients to effectively confront all the issues we are facing today that is at the same time acceptable to every sector of society.

At the rate we are behaving, it will be almost impossible to achieve a unanimous consensus. In the meantime, let's admit that the people and our environment will continue to suffer for a long time.

But looking at it from a higher dimensional and detached perspective, we are all in a state of chaos and confusion. In a state of panic to resolve or alleviate our deteriorating condition, each of us tries to frantically assert and impose our own perception, which may be delusional perhaps, of what is true and correct.

This is understandable because the system that we have created has gone berserk and has become very unwieldy and uncontrollable. The world has turned against us because of what we have done to her.

Can we agree at least to put our trust on one institution to manage us? But which institution will this be? The Government? The Associations of Medical Doctors? Or the various religious groups?

Can we expect them to come together with an open mind to seriously discuss the terrible mess we have all created in the first place? Who will initiate this conveniat?

Or, shall we just wait for the coming elections and hope that the incoming breed and mix of leaders will play their Messianic role when elected?

I'm very pessimistic. With the other national pandemics we are facing, I believe the world is headed to an impending explosion. But I also don't discount miracles to happen.

How I wish that televangelists get out of their canned shows to conduct healings in hospitals, drive demons in places where border disputes are becoming violent, or stop paying their employees starvation wages.

If our situation is not yet hopeless, what would revive it from its sickening state?

Opening the Year 2021: Formulating Our Plan for this New Year.

Paul J. Dejillas, Ph.D. – January 4, 2021

We struggled last year. We differ a lot in our views and beliefs. Yet, we tried to understand one another, respecting each other's opinion, at least here in my posts.

Comments were done in a dialogical (not diabolical) fashion while highlighting our differences. Efforts were made to come up with an interdisciplinary, holistic, and cosmic perspective, hoping that eventually a convergence of our views can be realized.

This is the main purpose, the raison d'etre of my FB posts. The timeline of this group encourages communication and union (in short, communion) with each other. It does not encourage dogmatism, closed mindedness, fundamentalism, fanaticism, not to mention sarcasm and ridiculing other disciplines or each other.

For all this only aggravates and perpetrates isolationism, conflict, combative attitudes, and violence, a legacy which we unfortunately inherited from our family, peers, schools, media, religion, Churches, temples, mosques, governments, and politicians.

As the moderator of this group, I discourage individuals whose purpose is only for, and nothing else, but solicitations, chain letters, as well as those fond of foul languages, sending explicit sexual images, nude photos, and those whose purpose is one-way, i.e. to get likes, invitations to join their group, or to share their posts.

Let's continue spreading our truth to our circle of friends. Together, we can shake the world from lethargy, indifference, and passivity.

Roar, roar, and roar. Gently down the stream where the door of immortality is awaiting to be open.

How?

"In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” ~ Proverbs 16:9.

God has good plans for our life (Jeremiah 29:11; Romans 12:2; Ephesians 2:10).

Let's align our plans with him. Jesus was willing to give up everything for us regardless of our race, political affiliation, gender, education. To commit our plans to the Lord means to speak to him about our plans or to formulate our plans together with him.

The Bible guides us to: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5, 6).

And that is exactly what I needed at this new year of pandemic. With so many paths opened every moment, I need clear guidance on what path to take!

Dog-Eat-Dog World

Paul J. Dejillas, Ph.D. – December 20, 2020

It's a fact. We're still living in a dog-eat-dog world. Because of fierce competition, people are willing to harm others in order to survive and succeed. We live in a ruthlessly competitive world, without moral restraint, without ethics. Conquer or be conquered; colonize or be colonized; kill or be killed. An endless tug-and-war between good and evil, sin and salvation, moral and immoral. But should this be so?

Let the Lion in Us Roar in Unison!

July 14, 2020

Mottos are mere words. But if roared, they can be powerful rallying points for societal change. Remember the power of the sounds in the biblical wall of Jericho in the year 8,000 B.C.?

"When you hear them sound (roar) a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout (roar); then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in."

The same event of roaring had been repeated by St. John the Baptist in his voice crying in the wilderness that toppled down many corrupt governments and leaders.

In 49 B.C. Julius Caesar uttered his famous cry before crossing the river of the Rubicon: "The die has been cast!"

Similar roars have since been reenacted in many people-power revolutions throughout the world in the recent past.

-----------------

Today, the same scenario is slowly emerging, presented here as a satire, intended mainly to entertain but at the same time expose the sentiments of the people to resist against the injustices and anomalies aggressively perpetrated by the powers-that-be.

-------------------

First, the Boy Scouts are awakened and suddenly utter a loud roar: "Be Prepared!" The roar becomes louder and louder as other groups hear and join the first cry. In no time, a thunderous voice roared across the globe in unison.

Marines: "No Retreat, No Surrender!"

Army: "No pain, No gain!"

Airforce: "No Guts, No Glory! "

Navy: "Service Across the Nation!"

Red Cross: "With Humanity, Towards Peace"

Peace Activists: "Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation.

Street Activists: "No to Martial Law!" "No to Militarization!"

New Millennium Cry: "Be Prudent, Be Selfless,Be Human!"

The most powerful platform to express our cries and roars today is the social media due to the ongoing global pandemics. For humanity's safety and preservation, we just have to comply with the following mottos:

Drug Stores/Hospitals/Groceries: "No Mask, No Entry!*

Checkpoints: "No Travel Pass, No Entry!"; "No Medical Pass, No Entry!"

Subdivisions/Villages: "No Quarantine Pass, No Entry!"

Schools and Universities: "No Masks, No ID, No Entry!"

And for our precautionary measures, while roaring, let's: .....

We are now in the Age of Aquarius and water symbolizes enlightenment.

Paul J. Dejillas, Ph.D. – December 22, 2020

The Holy Spirit appeared to Jesus when the latter was baptized by St. John in the River of Jordan. In the Book of Revelation (21:6 and 22:1), the Holy Spirit is referred to as the "Water of Life". Water popularly represents life. It is associated with birth, fertility, and refreshment. Science gives a parallel explanation.

Dog-Eat-Dog No more!

Paul J. Dejillas, Ph.D. – December 21, 2020

This ancient metaphor refers to a situation where nobody is safe from anybody anymore, where each man is for himself. It is used to refer to a situation of fierce competition in which people are willing to harm each other in order to succeed.

People will do whatever it takes to be successful, even if that means harming others. Driven by survival instincts in extreme circumstances, they resort to sub-canine behavior. They are competing for the same things, like good jobs, good education, nice houses, cars. They say that to be successful, a person has to work like a dog. They have to work very, very hard.

To this day, it has become the model of good life, ramifying itself through all the aspects of human endeavor. The paradox is that even if we only entertain this kind of mentality in our thoughts and feelings, we have already succumbed to it, guilty of committing sin. Indeed, we live in a ruthlessly competitive world that it's nearly impossible for us to exercise self-restraint.

Let us not hide the facts. It's still a dog-eat-dog world out there. You have to work hard for your promotion or continue to receive substandard wages. You have to be always ahead of your office mates or remain stagnant in your career.

Gradually, the end justifies the means. For as long as the goal is important, any method of getting there is acceptable, even means that are dishonest and harmful to others. A little dash of corruption and cheating is justifiable if it's able to achieve the desired end.

The idea is ancient, but, consciously or unconsciously, it still remains the basis of our social norms today. It is meant to justify unnecessary cruelty.

You have to do whatever you can to survive. The students cheat and even destroy each other's work to get better grades. Your company will fire you once you become unproductive and reach the point of diminishing returns. One day you're a superstar, the next fay you found yourself replaced by younger ones.

But this metaphorical dog-eat-dog is an age-old one. It has now been transformed. Dogs are today our best animal friends. They are honest, easygoing, and helpful to others. They are loyal, friendly, and kind. People born under the sign of the dog are said to share these traits.

In the Chinese zodiac calendar, the dog is great in one's career. Many people have gained golden opportunities for job promotion and career advancement.

According to the Chinese zodiac luck

prediction, people born in the year of the Chinese zodiac dog would have peaks and summits in life in spite of the pandemic. They should seize the great opportunities to read more books, work harder, and constantly improve themselves.

In a way, you do not compete with others. You only compete with yourself to become bigger and better, materially and spiritually. If this is not the motivation and the outcome, then, you're no different from that ancient uncivilized dog.

Sorry, there is no other way out, except to die and your corpse festively eaten by the worms six feet underground.

Moving On to the Age of Aquarius

Paul J. Dejillas, Ph.D. – December 24, 2020

"When the moon is in the Seventh House

And Jupiter aligns with Mars

Then peace will guide the planets

And love will steer the stars

This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius

Age of Aquarius...."

In science, water symbolizes cleansing, purification, healing, nourishment, sustenance, and life-giving elements. It consists of two hydrogens and one oxygen atom which signify abundance.

Daily bath is so refreshing especially if you're in a tub. But spiritual water is equally, if not more, animating. Don't let your supply of holy water at home run dry.

Sprinkle every corner of your home regularly with blessed water to welcome our guardian angels and cosmic light-bearers as part of our family.

There's no turning back. We are ascending a notch higher in the cosmic evolutionary process. The transition can be painful for we are detaching ourselves away from all those things that bring us down to the deepest pit of our little dark world.

Yes, the Age of Aquarius truly liberates us from our 4-D realm of space-time to catapult us to the 5-D where there is:

"Harmony and understanding

Sympathy and trust abounding

No more falsehoods or derisions

Golden living dreams of visions

Mystic crystal revelation

And the mind's true liberation..."

Coincidentally or synchronously, the River Jordan flows roughly north to south through the Sea of Galilee and onto the Dead Sea.

Paradox?

Yes, the Sea of Galilee is where the disciples harvested abundance and became fishers of men and women at the behest of Jesus, symbolic of the 5th dimension).

The Dead Sea is so named because it is a salt lake and there is no life or fish (symbol of Christ).

We are going to where abundance is and to heaven, the place we truly call home. We are moving fast towards our future and destiny. We are saying goodbye to our old self which is now on its way to the Dead Sea.

Of course, we have our choice. You can proceed to the Dead Sea if you so want.

Are you sure you know where you want to go? If not, the content of your thoughts, feelings, and actions will decide it for you.

Good riddance to all and may our God send us its Holy Spirit to enlighten us before the year ends.
